Designing New Illustrative Web Graphics and Printed Stationery for Life Saving Training, Newcastle
Introduction
Not long ago, Helena from Life Saving Training, a well-established first aid business based in Newcastle, reached out to discuss the possibility of creating new web graphics and potential illustration style, along with revamping their current stationery. Life Saving Training has built a solid reputation in the North East for delivering high-quality first aid training, and Helena wanted to enhance the visual communication of their services to better connect with their audience and strengthen their brand presence.
The Brief
The project encompassed several design needs, both digital and print. The primary goal was to create new, illustrative web graphics for their website, which would effectively convey First Aid care and processes. Additionally, Helena sought a slight revision of their existing logo to include the website. Alongside this, I was tasked with designing fresh business cards that would reflect the updated logo and overall aesthetic. Finally, Helena needed a print solution for the mental health training cards, which she was uncertain how to best execute. The design for all these elements needed to remain consistent with Life Saving Training’s brand identity.
The Process
For the design process, I began by proposing several illustration styles for the web graphics, ultimately choosing a hand-drawn approach to highlight key hand placements and body positions in first aid care. For the Mental health training cards, Helena wanted a practical yet professional design, so I suggested a folded business card format that would allow for all necessary information while remaining compact and easy to carry.
