Creative art direction, visual identity and branding for Afro Nation festival
Overview
Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Guy Pittard and the Malachite Team on festival artwork for Afro Nation, an internationally renowned event held in Portugal, the U.S. and Ghana.
Each year, we’ve pushed creative boundaries to elevate the Afro Nation brand, introducing new visual styles ranging from bespoke illustrations and African-inspired patterns to original typography. In addition to branding, we produced a full suite of festival collateral including large-scale print designs, signage, menus, wristbands, as well as digital assets such as programmes, social content and the festival sitemap.
The work is fast paced and deadline driven, often requiring late nights and meticulous attention to detail to ensure every asset is delivered on time for both print and digital.
Some personal highlights include designing a custom typeface inspired by tribal African culture with a modern twist, and creating a detailed 3D illustration of the sitemap for the Afro Nation Portugal event.
